Taxol gave me chalky white and one black toenail. Lost the nail on right big toe...it just started lifting from the nailbed, and a few weeks later came off. Starting to regrow, but still looks manky. Fingernails also discoloured to a nasty orange brown and developed horizontal ridges, four in all, spaced about 2mm apart. I put this down to damage in the nailbed from the AC chemo, rather than the taxol, as I already had one ridge emerging when I started on the Taxol.I was very ill on the AC, ended up in hospital for a total of 56 days over the twelve weeks of that nightmare. Eventually the ridges and discolouration grew out of the fingernails, but the shape of the middle finger on my right hand has changed. Has a high arch and is narrower than before, and now digs into the side of the finger if I cut it too short. Much like an ingrown toenail would do. I therefor keep it a tad longer than I usually would.
