Taxol side effect and rash help!

Well, Taxol would be easier they said, I think they said that to keep me coming back. Aside from the nausea and fatigue I now have 2 very different rashes the one over my arms across my chest and ack very itchy. I'm using an Aveeno cream on that and taking Loratidine. The other rash is on my feet around my toes, my feet are swollen numb and painful. Now the skin is peeling off. They've said it might be hand foot syndrome. My Onc team haven't been very helpful with the only advice is to wear shoes. Lol my feet so swollen I don't have a pair that fits properly. My slippers are working nicely tho.  Is there any creams anything else I could be doing to help with this. I'm big, bald and look like something the dog dragged in. Only 7 weeks left of this and counting!!

  • It's 2am and I'm up as I can't sleep because of the itching on my legs, arms and back.. I finished Taxol almost 5 weeks ago and this is the first sign of itchiness!! ...I also have tingling in the toes and very large swollen feet...I love the way you describe yourself mumflo-I invited my friends to come and rub my belly because it might bring them good luck :-)  Hang in there and stay positive..it's always good to keep your sense of humour.

  • I was taking antihistamines as well. Really funny that as time passes you forget.

  • Yes, they told me docetaxol wasn't too bad, bit of a ruse really. I took an anti-histamine for the itchy rash and that seemed to help. I also retained a lot of fluid in my feet, I was told to say off them, not very easy. I am 6 weeks past chemo and it does get better, not as quickly as I would like, but it does. Hope you are feeling better soon, take care,

  • I had the worst rash on docetaxol. The itch was intense, and my skin got very lumpy with red patches. The ONLY thing that cleared it up, and it worked in about 1 hour, was Zyrtec. My oncologist told me to get it.Hope this helps.Robyn
  • I had a terrible rash too and my GP gave me a presription cream of some sort, I am sorry I can't remember what it was but it cleared it up for me.

Hang in there there is life on the other side and its pretty damn good.

    Sending you hugs
