TAXOL rash on knuckles

Hello
I am half way through Taxol Chemo (hoorah). the last 2 weeks I have a very itchy, hot, sore, and red raw pair of knuckles.  I used Bepanthen cream (better known as the Tattoo cream) for these 2 weeks, which did help, but it doesn't seem to any longer.
Anybody else suffer this reaction and what have you used that has eased the pain and the itchiness and all-round discomfort of the rash.    Thank you for any help.  GG

  • Yes it was  the ds 1% cream. How disappointing for it not to work .For me it cleared it up in a couple of days

  • I got a rash on my head, under arms, neck and lady bits, drove me nuts! I found cetaphil eczema moisturiser worked really well, a pharmacist reccomended while I was in hospital with low neutrophil count. It really helped sooth rash. Hope your ras settles soon! Xx

  • Calamine lotion been around forever but works straight away and not very expensive.

  • I got a similar rash but on the area of the feet below the ankles to side of heels. Drove me nuts as i couldnt put closed shoes on. Try aloe vera in the fridge cools it down. I also used novapel Natural eczema cream for the itch.

  • Hi, I've had what sounds like a similar rash from Taxotere on my 1st & 3rd cycles, on my face & the back of my hands. Sigmacort ointment helped at times, not others. I did try an aloe vera gel, which gave lovely, but very temporary relief. I wonder whether aloe vera, from the plant would be worth a try?

  • Hi LorraineB
    thanks for your reply.
was the cream you got CORTIC -ds 1% cream.  I used that when i first got the rash and it made it worse.  I guess I could give it another try.  Nothing ventured...........

    Good luck to you.

  • My onco prescribed a cortic cream for this.  My whole right hand was red and sore and this cream was fabulous.
