Taxol 9, Herceptin 3

Taxol 9, 3 more to go phew. Side effects this week: hands-rashy, puffy and sore. Finger and toe nails very tender. Have had things slip or drop out of my hands a few times now. Hot flushes of course. Emotions better. I think I am getting worse with the needles, even though the port's there, used the Emla cream still felt the needle. Little cry. Oh well. I was meant to see the counsellor last week, the secretary rang two hours before to cancel as she was double booked and was going to Williamstown that day! Not impressed, poor first impression. Will be seeing her tomorrow, hmmm make my mind up as to whether to continue seeing her. Lastly never underestimate a good nights sleep which I managed to get last night with the aid of two sleeping tablets(Dexmethsone strikes again!). Cheryle :)

    Hiya Cheryl, I had similar side effects of taxol and when I mentioned them to staff they reduced my dose and then cancelled the last one. Signs of neuropathy can sometimes mean permanent nerve damage. I hate to tell you also, that my side effects continued to get worse for 2 months after taxol finished in early feb. I lost feeling in my toes and lost a couple of nails. Very gross and still quite ugly to look at, but growing out slowly. I was really looking forward to finishing thinking I'd come good quickly, but this didn't happen for me. In that sense I found taxol much harder than AC. It's great you're finishing soon and perhaps they will reduce your dose too to avoid further damage to your fingers and toes. Thanks for your frequent posts, is nice to keep up with how you're doing.     Hi Cheryl, Just reading what I have to look forward to! I did hear that taxol symptoms weren't nice. Just think, after this it will only be every three weeks again! Yay! You can do it! Best wishes Vanessa
