We all make our own choices but these should be informed choices. My life is full of pleasure even more so since having breast cancer (it is life changing as you say).
But for me the clear evidence that even moderate amounts of alcohol (the average glass of wine we pour is more than one standard drink, often 2 or 3) can increase your chance of not only breast cancer but other cancers as well just takes away any pleasure in drinking alcohol. The link between estrogen positive breast cancer and alcohol is even stronger.
I want to give myself a chance to live a long cancer-free life so I can enjoy the pleasures of life for many years to come. I don't need to drink a Group 1 carcinogen to enjoy life. This is one risk I can avoid. It is one of many things that I now do to 'stay on top of the cancer'.
Just make sure you are aware of the risks that your choice may have, lots of people are not. Take care. Deanne xxx
