Tamoxifen supply trouble

Howdy all,

Well who woulda thought I would be complaining about not being able to get this drug. LOl

Ok, well not the drug itself but the Novladex D brand. As it is the only brand that does not make me want to jump off the nearest bridge I'd be loathe to change...actually I just wouldn't, I've tried the others and they all stink for me.

Not sure what the status is in the rest of the country but Brisbane and Ipswich seem to be pretty short on supply with back orders not expected until June/July.

I spent yesterday morning on the phone ringing around after my 4 local pharmacies could not supply.  About 20 phone calls later I tracked some down about 30k's away and they were nice enough to dispense one of the repeats as well. They wouldn't allow three lots at once though
So if this is your brand you may want to check out the availabilty sooner than later.

  • Nice work @Dory65.  Can't bloody drive down there now to get any!
  • I’ve been taking Nolvadex-D My chemist gave me a different one
Tamoxifen Sandoz I presumed it was all he had.
I usually refill when i open my last packet so I haven’t started the change in brand yet.
  • Success! Able to get Nolvadex on NSW Central Coast at Healthsave Erina Fair.
  • I'll be trying to get Nolvadex-D on NSW Central Coast. If it's as scarce as toilet paper, I'm in trouble! >:)
  • @LIttleBlueWren  Gladly.  I have major issues with Genox with a barrage of awful side effects.  Wish I had of worked that out 18months earlier.  :)
  • @LIttleBlueWren I got Genox20 last week at a little chemist in Wavell Heights (north Brisbane), she seemed to have plenty of stock.  I usually get GenRX but haven’t been able to get it for months.
  • I use Genox 20 and cannot get it..I had to get Nolvadex-D and I am really nervous about starting a different brand. I have been 'lucky' as the only side affects that I get from Genox are hot flushes and slight joint pain (but that could be age related). I will give it a try once my current pack runs out.

@kezmusc I'm in Brisbane, if you get Genox maybe we could swap

Wishing you all a great weekend (methinks reading, gardening and attempting a quilt will be on the cards this weekend)
  • Gargh! I confess that bout 6 weeks ago I filled extra scripts for Exemestane as I had a limited concession that runs out at the end of this month so I got what I could to avoid the extra $40 odd that it will cost me from now on.
I'm considering taking a break at the moment anyway, as I'm not sure if I want to spend the next couple of months trying to figure out what constitutes aches and pains related to possible contagion vs the grinding regularity of having a total body tooth ache.
