No. Tamoxifen does not kill fast growing cells (which the cancer cells are) like the chemo drugs do. Tamoxifen helps prevent estrogen from bonding with cells (including cancer cells) thus preventing estrogen positive cancers from growing. There is very good info on tamoxifen on this site if you look under hormone therapy. My oncologist gave me the BCNA booklet about hormone therapy when I began taking tamoxifen.
