PeterB, just as a matter of curiosity only,  what brand of Tamoxifen were u taking for the 5 years?

I came off tamoxifin in Sept 2017. After five years, under instructions from my Oncol. It us still not completely out of my system as if March 2018
Actually killed my sex life for the five years. Slowly coming back now. Killed it physically and mentally for that period.
I reckon they should give it to pedophiles would solve the problem.

At one stage I found my particular brand of Tamoxifen unavailable and had to accept an alternative..................wasn't a good move and as soon as my preferred brand was available again I was okay.  

Our bodies do adjust - it's about giving it a go and hopefully you'll be one of those with minimal if not no side effects whatsoever

Having said all that I will be going off Tamoxifen and onto something else, but that is lady bits that Tamoxifen has attacked and not relevant to males, so I will leave that topic alone for now

I see in one part it stated as below, hence my reason for looking for a possible less side effected brand, although I know this varies from person to person, but worth trying another brand in view of side effects I have, as nothing to lose...:

I believe there is a big gender and age difference between those taking this drug. Certainly younger women can have a dreadful time on it and many discontinue. All the men I know handle it well, which is fortunate because it's the gold standard hormone blocker for us and since 90% of us are ER/HR+ HER2- that helps.

Not sure if different brands make a big difference - for me it is Sandoz and I take mine just after lunch everyday.  I found the evenings I couldn't settle, perhaps it was early days of adjusting in the bigger picture of where I was at but I have settled into taking Tamoxifen early afternoon.
