Tamoxifen 1 month on
Have been on this drug I had been fearing so much for about a month now and not doing too bad. The sleep disturbance is definitely the worst thing for me - so much so that “sleeping tablet” Thursday is one of the highlights of my week. On the upside I get much more done since I’m not wasting it on pesky sleep ;). I have just noticed in the last 3 days that I might be getting a small amount of joint pain. I have noticed it most in the morning in my hands that they need a good stretch out. I have noticed a little brain fog but I still don’t know if this is the tablet or the lack of sleep from the tablet (I know what u think @kezmusc :D). It’s not too bad but I did call a new work colleague by the wrong name last week :o. I have noticed at night too when I’m trying to read that things seem slightly more blurry with or without my glasses - again, not sure if it’s the tablets or the tiredness. I’m also a little crankier and even more impatient and intolerant of idiots that I used to be but I think that could be more a side effect of what I have been through this year - life’s too short to deal with idiots.
All in all im actually doing pretty well and consider myself to be lucky so far. Only time will tell if the sleeping improves as my body gets used to it. Will have to wait another 2 months to see what happens.
Really long for the days of a decent sleep when I didn’t wake up with hot flushes though!!

- Kiwi_AngelMember@Onga - was awake at 4.30 yesterday morning so went for a run - hoped that would help last night but worse unfortunately. I’m doing as many sitting down jobs as I can today ;)
- OngaMemberKiwi Angel - I know it sounds ridiculous, but go for a walk so you get the blood pumping through - that used to help me. As for the tiredness - just rest, your body has been through so much, it needs to mend.
- Kiwi_AngelMemberThanks @Onga. I have terrible muscle aches this morning and I’m hoping it’s extreme tiredness and not the meds.
- OngaMemberHi Ladies, I suffered terrible joint pain and was extremely 'snappy' (to the extent that I could have lost my husband and my kids) - so after discussion with my Oncologist we tried another type of Tamoxifan medication and stayed on this for six months until the side effects got too much to handle and then went back to the Tamoxifan. Went through 5 years of swapping medications - but as he said at least I was on something, so that was better than me stoppingGood luck with it.
- Kiwi_AngelMember@kmakm definitely not. Feel like throwing up and all my joints and muscles are aching - going to be a very long day :'(
- kmakmMember@"Kiwi Angel" Get onto it with your GP and start working through the options. It's just no way to live. K xox
