Tamoxifen 1 month on

Have been on this drug I had been fearing so much for about a month now and not doing too bad. The sleep disturbance is definitely the worst thing for me - so much so that “sleeping tablet” Thursday is one of the highlights of my week. On the upside I get much more done since I’m not wasting it on pesky sleep  ;). I have just noticed in the last 3 days that I might be getting a small amount of joint pain. I have noticed it most in the morning in my hands that they need a good stretch out. I have noticed a little brain fog but I still don’t know if this is the tablet or the lack of sleep from the tablet (I know what u think @kezmusc  :D). It’s not too bad but I did call a new work colleague by the wrong name last week  :o. I have noticed at night too when I’m trying to read that things seem slightly more blurry with or without my glasses - again, not sure if it’s the tablets or the tiredness. I’m also a little crankier and even more impatient and intolerant of idiots that I used to be but I think that could be more a side effect of what I have been through this year - life’s too short to deal with idiots.

All in all im actually doing pretty well and consider myself to be lucky so far. Only time will tell if the sleeping improves as my body gets used to it. Will have to wait another 2 months to see what happens.

Really long for the days of a decent sleep when I didn’t wake up with hot flushes though!!

  • Sounds like you're doing well S. Excellent news!
  • @Sanra u r having a rough time. Hope u recover from those wounds ok. I can’t complain when I compare my side effects to some but I hope it keeps the bloody cancer away!!
  • Ive started back on mine now after the month break. Sleep is also distrubted, ive got what feels like a lock jaw feeling & numb fingertips tips again. Lots of fog & no patients left, totally agree with you about fools, Worse part is my bp, up & down like a yoyo, off to heart specialist to see if damage has been done or its tamoxifen caused.
Although I am fighting infection with two holes in my chest from surgeries this month & a pico machine on, i think im doing ok lol.
My gp gave me melatonin to help regulate sleep, its kinda doing something, but i cant take it everyday or i would be a zombie.
Seems like side effects are just things we need to find another pill to pop to keep them at bay whilst this drug does its job, I really hope its worth all this extra stress & bother tbh, cause it is exhausting at times hey!
good luck finding your balance x
