Swimwear

As we are heading into summer (eventhough in Sydney it doesn't quite seem like it) I was wondering about bathers.

I had a double mastectomy in July and have opted not to have a reconstruction. I also don't wear any prostheses.

Most of the wesbistes I have looked at have swimwear designed to use with a prosthesis.

I am also a bikini girl - at nearly 50 dont really care that I dont look like a supermodel.

Any suggestions?

    Hi Pauline,

As Trish said there are many recommended swimwear providers in the Local Services Directory on our website. Simply follow this link and type in Swimwear as a keyword: http://www.bcna.org.au/ldirectory/listing and you will be able to search through the listings.

Also - I have just completed a site wide search and there have been alot of women talking about swimwear in the Online network. Take a look: http://www.bcna.org.au/search/node/Swimwear

Good luck and bring on the summer sun :-)

I had double mastectomy too in June.

I am getting a fitting for bathers/swimmers (not a bikini) this Saturday by Lily Bliss to you - she is personal mobile breast prosthesis /bra and swimwear fitter - she covers most of Sydney & Wollongong  (listed in directory on BCNA).

She does home/hospital visits in privacy.

I am getting prostheses just to wear out - I don't wear them at home - unless we have guests.

I think she said you can wear memory foam prosthesis inside the swimmers but not the silicon ones ...must check on that though.

I know she said you don't need the special swimming ones unless you swim lots of laps etc.

Medicare covers you too for prosthesis up to $400 each one.
