Survivor

Hello my beautiful Pink Sisters,

I am feeling so happy today, finishing all my treatment has lifted a huge weight off me, I feel wonderful.

I have made some decisions for moving forward and I am thrilled with them, next week I am getting a pink ribbon tattoo on my left wrist, I am a survivor and want to wear a permanent badge of honour, in October I am hosting a fund raiser and am very excited about this, I am starting small for my first and each year I will host something to give back to all that helped me and finally I am planning my return to work. YAY.

So I am happy with where my life is right now, I have tests etc but for me I believe all the yucky stuff is over.

With love

Donna

  • I don't think I am braver than anyone, I just maybe feel differently. I too am scared, the idea that I had that insidious desease within me is horrible. I want to move forward though, I do not want my life controlled by anything other than me and so I am reclaiming my life. God knows what is in my future and if it ends up being more of the same I will deal with it as I have this time, one step at a time, one surgery and one treatment at a time.

My psychologist would say its me trying to control all aspects of my life and she would be right.

Right now I am amazed at how good I am feeling, I know though that too may come to pass as I start hormone suppressants this week.

Sending hugs out to you all.

  • Hi Donna,

Braver... in that it took me some years to get passed the scary feeling, every time I thought about having cancer.

Even today.. I do not like to say, it will never return, incase I jinx myself ( lol. )

I WILL die of something. I will try and focus on living in the now and not being too worried about the future.

I have all  I need right now.

Good luck with the tattoo and doing a yearly event to " give back " in some way...

Small steps.. it is early days.. Best of luck, Kathy.

  • Well done on finishing your rads! Yay! Mmm pink ribbon tattoo, I must admit I have always been anti tattoos but even I have given it a passing thought. You'll have to post a picture when you get it done, see if you can convince me to go there too LOL. Cheers Cheryle :)

  • Hang in there, I had the worst time with my chemo and felt the whole process was never ending, but there is light and life is wonderful once you are through it all and its all the more sweeter because of what we have gone through.

I wish you well with your continued treatments and know that radiation is a breeze compared to chemo.

    cheers

  • It is inspiring to those of us still undergoing treatment to hear how good you feel at the end of your treatment. I still have one more Chemo (which I am finding very tough going) and then radiotherapy to go. It helps me to know that you can feel so good at the end! Good riddance to the yucky stuff and to cancer too! It is wonderful that you are giving back both through sharing your feelings and also the fundraisers. Stay well. Deanne xx
