Surgery

Good morning everyone.

I had my surgery on Tues afternoon. Bilateral Mastectomy. As I said in previous post I was feeling anxious and scared. (not that my family knew) The thing I was most worried about was the pain!!! Well, I am pleased to say that it all went fantastic. I was out of theatre at 5.00pm, in the ward at 5.45pm and eating dinner at 6.00pm. I had no nausea, normal blood pressure, no pain.

Biopsy on Lymph nodes clear. It is Thurs morn and I have tubes each side that I am hoping to have taken out today. The nurses can't believe me when they ask, "pain from 1-10?" and I say nil. I am having no pain relief at all. I am feeling excellent within myself and just happy that the offending "boobies" are all gone. Not having reconstruction, am more than happy with my flat chest. The surgeons did a wonderful job, very neat and clean. Thank you for the support girls, it really helps. Hoping to go home on Friday and then next week find out what my next challenge will be. xxxxx Nola Wunderle

  • That's wonderful Nola. I'm so glad for you. It must be such a relief to get it over with and find that it wasn't at all like you imagined. You will find out what the next step is for you soon and I'm sure you will breeze through whatever that may be. Love Janey xxx
  • That's wonderful, Nola - so glad that your lymph nodes were clear - it is a huge relief for you. Isn't it surprising how little pain is involved?  I was amazed to find just a strip of tape across my chest afterwards.

Keep in touch and let us know where you go from here.  Congratulations on your great outcome.  Michelle xx
