Surgery over!

Hi girls,

Finally back online after my surgery 2 weeks ago. I had a skin sparing mastectomy with a tissue expander inserted.  OMG it was such and emotional time when they finally came to take me to theatre. My hubby, mum and sister were with me all the way. Troopers!!! We arrived at 11am and surgery was not til 5.30. Very very anxious. I didnt actually cry til the very end. I was so exhausted from not sleeping the night before and just wanted it to be over with.

I woke in the ward at 7.45 with my hubby sitting holding my hand. Crying as I type. He has been so wonderful. Its always me fluffing over him.

I stayed in hospital from Wed to Sun night. When Dr Cheung came the next day she informed me that my tissue expanded had moved to under my arm. I hadnt even looked at my boob yet. I had a little boob but it was stick out under under my arm.....of course I was upset but she assured me it can be moved in the next reconstruction stage. I just had to deal with this. Its not too bad I suppose!

I had a major meltdown when Brett took me for my first shower. It looked a lot worse with my normal breast beside the taken one. I cried like a baby!

I had a lot of trouble managing the pain. Finally a nurse had told me I needed to ask for pain relief.  By Sat arvo I was sorted with a lovely little cocktail of help. Much happier me!!!

I have been home for a week now and am doing ok. Pain eases up day by day.
