Surgery done

Hi all on 6th jan I had my left breast removed & all of my lymph nodes. I've had chemo before surgery so when I saw my surgeon on the 10th he gave me the exciting news that the breast tissue & the lymph nodes were all completely free of any cancer cells!! So happy to hear that! I'm recovering well from surgery & now continuing with my herceptin, perhaps some radiation & tamoxifen a little down the track. Still a bit to go but I'm so relieved the worst is over!

  • Thank you girls I'm feeling really good & healing well! Lets all hope that 2014 is our year!! X
  • Hi Andir, I so remember that feeling. My surgeon came in a few days after my surgery to tell me the same thing and my sister was visiting. We just hugs and cried it was so good. The worst is behind you and now it's time to heal. That's what I am doing this year and celebrating top. Although I have Herceptin until mid May, 5 years of Femara and some revision surgery to go I can't really say I'm finished but I think psychologically I am. Sounds like you're climbing out of the tunnel too and I'm really glad for you. Love Janey xxx

  • That is great news :) I received the same news after surgery, and I remember the relief.Time now for rest and recovery. When you are given exercises to do,make sure you try and do them regularly,as it makes such a difference to your mobility in the coming weeks. All the best.xox Robyn
  • Yes, the worst is over. Isn't it great to know that the chemo was very effective with no cancer in the breast tissue or lymph nodes? That must be very reassuring that it will have killed all the cancer that was lurking around. Hope your recovery is swift and good luck with the rest of your treatment. I have been on tamoxifen for just over 2 months and have had no major effects. I believe that exercising everyday is helping with this. Take care. Deanne xxx
