Surgery done Friday, Yah :)

Hi to all

Well surgery went well on Friday. Found the nuclear injections, scans etc stressful, but had my daughter holding my hand through it all. By the time I got taken into surgery I was so exhausted that arvo that I was happy to go to sleep for my op, lol.

Surgeon said they got the lump out well, and sent it to radiology, and they were happy with it all intact. The dye didn't work properly so instead of taking the one node for the biopsy they took a clump whatever that means. Did anyone else have similar experience with their Sentinal node biopsy. And she couldn't tell me how many nodes etc they took. Get results Tuesday week, so not too long too wait.

Have been told I will need radiation, praying that's all and nodes and margins come back clear and low grading of tumour.

So happy to have it out and tossed away, my body dosen't need that, none of us need that hey.

Recover has been bit difficult, very uncomfortable with inflammation, pain in shoulders, back, neck etc, feel like I have been hit by a truck. The surgery sites, both look ok at the moment, hoping mastitis dosen't happen this time.

Been struggling with swollen glands etc, but they are settling a little bit more today.

My airways were so much better than last year, bit wheezy, but very grateful to be as well as I am.

So all in all, feel lousy, but know at the same time I'm still kind of doing ok.

Smiles to all. I hope everyone else recovering this week is doing ok from their surgeries, and treatment is going well for all. xxx

  • Hi Kazza, glad you're op went well. I remember I had stressed so much that by the time they wheeled me in for my op I could barely keep my eyes open:) I found the sentinel injections quite painful and I had a lovely nurse hold my hand all the way through it. I still find the node site painful at times whereas the lumpectomy site is pretty good. It's a good feeling isn't it? having the bad stuff taken out. I hope you're recovery is swift, all the best,

    Hazel xx

Well done Kazza, just give yourself time to recover, and be proud that you've passed this hurdle. Take care, Tracey B ??

  • Hi Kazza,

Great news it's done and you're on the road to recovery.  Take things slowly.

I found I had more pain in the site of the sentinel node biopsy.  Pathology will have how many nodes were removed.  I had 5 removed.

Rest and recover, and let your daughter fuss over you for a bit.
