Surgery Done and Now Back Home

A brief update on me.

Went into hospital on Thursday, 13th for my lymph sentinel node biopsy and no joke, when they injected the dye it really hurt.  I was told later that the more pain experienced was an indication of the better drainage and within five minutes they were able to take photographs for the surgery.

I had barely been wheeled back into the waiting area when the surgical team came for me.  There was a problem finding a vein so they had to knock me out and the next thing I knew it was over and I was in recovery.

Sore and bruised I didn't get much sleep that night.  When my specialist came to visit me(with what seemed to be half the hospital in toe) he seemed pleased (well as pleased as I guess a rather unemotive man could be) - one lymph node was taken, the tumour and two lesions gone, and he seemed confident that the margins around the tumour were clear - then again can't be 100% until results are received back next Friday.

After spending the night in the care of my in-laws (my partner's parents as he's away), I am back home again.  Still bruised and sore but surprisingly feeling a lot better than I had anticipated I would be feeling.  Still got a week of waiting to go until I get my final results and find out what the next few months and years even are in store for me.  But I am definitely in a better headspace than I was this time last week.

  • All the best with your results,  glad things went smoothly for you.  Rest up and spoil yourself x

  • Not sure about that, Lyn, but at least for me my nodes appear to be clear (at least at this stage- I will find out for certain come next Friday when the pathology results are available).

Here's hoping that you recover well, and that your results are good. Sending you a big cuddle, Trace ????

  • Good to hear it was all reasonably uneventful for you. I wonder if good drainage means a better chance of nothing being in the node? I certainly hope that's the case. Hope you continue to recover well. Thinking of you.
