Surgery date is set ....
Just a quick update: Had another appointment with the plastic surgeon today and he feels confident they may be able to do my entire reconstruction in one surgery....rather than having to insert the tissue expanders first and implants later. But they won't know for sure until they're actually in surgery. It all depends on how my body looks after the masectomy. To be honest, it doesn't really matter to me whether it's one surgery or two. Obviously one is ideal but I just want the best outcome. And I feel confident that's what he wants to. The date has been set for June 14. This gives me plenty of time to make sure I'm making the right decision for me. And that time of year is great for us as a family since it's Trevor's off-season meaning he'll be home to help with the kids. I won't be able to lift them for a couple weeks and no working out or anything like that for about 4 weeks. I politely explained to Trevor that this also includes dishes, laundry, ironing and toilets. And, I read somewhere that pedicures and massages are great for the healing process. Hey, I've got to milk this opportunity - I don't plan on ever, ever getting sick or spending anymore time in hospital after this so I've got to take advantage!!
I've also started taking the Tamoxifin tablets about a week ago and will go to the doctor tomorrow morning for my first Zoladex injection. So far, I'm not experiencing any side effects and hopefully it stays that way.
Mentally, I must say I am feeling fantastic. The best I have during this journey. Today was the first day that I really felt like our lives were starting to resemble our normal. I just have the most amazing, beautiful life and I really am so thankful for that. My parents arrive on Thursday from America for 3 weeks and it will be fantastic to have them here!
