Surgery all finished

So I've had the surgery to exchange the expander for the permanent implant (silicone).

It is so much better than the expander. The skin is no longer stretched and it is a much more normal shape and feel.

The dressings are still on so I haven't seen the scar yet but it should be just the same scar as was there from the mastectomy.

This means all the surgery is finally finished. What a relief. I am still on Herceptin for the rest of this year and tamoxifen & triptorelin for 5 years. Plus the monitoring of the other breast. So, it will not ever really be over but I guess the worst parts are now over.

It is hard to imagine it being over & life can soon continue on as it did before. I don't feel as if I have learned any great lessons or become a different person. I'm still just me with some new experiences. What does all this mean for the future? I don't know.
