Strange breast

hi guys, I'm just wondering about a strangeness with my left breast. My history is oct 2013, right lobular bc mastectomy , chemo and rads. Have had one mammogram on remaining breast since then and all clear. My cancer was hormone positive but due to side effects I can't take tamoxifen. Anyway I've noticed on my left breast at the top a hardness that runs approx 5 cm accross ways and when I run my fingers downward there is a concave area of my breast. Am I just being paranoid or should I call my breast surgeon and bring my next mammogram and ultrasound forward ( due in October ). Thanks for your help.

  • Hi, just want to send you a huge hug and my dearest hope that all will be OK for you on Wednesday. Warm wishes, Jane xx

  • Thank you everyone, I have a mammogram and ultrasound booked for Wednesday. Unfortunately , I have now found a lump and when I lay on my back my nipple folds inwards. So annoyed right now but still hopeful it will be okay. I only finished treatment 15 months ago so really don't want to have to go through it all again. If only my stupid breast surgeon had of listened to me when I said on four different occasions I want a double mastectomy. Oh well, we will see what happens on Wednesday.

Hi Tinana, I want for you to make yourself the priority, and get yourself an appointment as soon as possible, then you know what you're dealing with. Sending you a cuddle, Tracey B ??

  • Without doubt, investigate. Now. It will help to ease your mind and that will be a positive step. Best Wishes Roberta H

  • Hi Tianana

I would definitely call your surgeon.  That is what he/she is there for and should be able to answer ANY QUESTION that you have. Do not be afraid to ask ANYTHING.  I am lucky in that I have two surgeons who I can ask anything regarding surgery/treatment etc. For example, when almost a week after being discharged from my mastectomy/reconstruction surgery I was visiting my breast surgeon as I had a concern about the reconstructed breast. LUCKY I did because he found a blood clot which had to be drained in hospital the very next day.  He gave me his mobile number if I had any concerns. I took him up on this offer the next morning on my way to hospital and he answered almost straight away.

Sorry for rambling on. Dont forget to ask questions, seek second opinions, but most importantly TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF. I have learnt this during my treatment and recovery from BC.

  • I'd agree with Robyn. It may be nothing, but get it checked. Hoping all' swell, Lyn

  • Without meaning to alarm you I would say to bring it forward.I feel that any change you notice like that should be checked out asap, especially if you aren't taking Tamoxifen.Usually these things turn out to be nothing, but better to check it out now.Cheers Robyn.xox
