Stomach ulcers

I wake up in the pre dawn most mornings and wonder - how many other ladies from this site are laying in bed wondering what to do with themselves to get through tonight...? I now understand why it is described as "a journey" to face cancer and its associated treatment. I think about how lucky I am (because everybody keeps telling me I am) to only have the edges of the monster in my body and try to appreciate that rather than feel sorry for myself. "Healthy" friends (and even mere acquaintances) give me platitudes like: "at least you only have to have 4 cycles/  at least you have the tumour removed/  it'll all be over soon/  at least your not spewing...... I have to admit that sometimes I have to bite back the words that come to my mouth - like "would you like to spend today in my body and then tell me how lucky I am"? I am now in to day 11 since the more severe allergic reactions set in following Chemo #3 and I am very over it!!!! The hives settled by day 8 but I still have inflamed airways and stomach ulcers that start in my trachea and spasm all the way down to the block of gravel in my stomach. Medications dont really help and I got a bit carried away with it all and forgot to keep taking my slippery elm bark powder. I remembered that at 4.30am today so I am sitting in my bed with my laptop and waiting to see if it helps a bit.... I wonder if I need to go in to the whole subject of acid reflux and adapting my diet to help with the pain but dont have the energy to deny myself those comfort foods that I usually enjoy - not over the top stuff - just cappacinos, a quiet glass of red, a piece of cake... I'm in to self indulgence at the mo.  What do others do when you hit this yucky stomach stuff? I am on PANTO - proton blockers for the acid, phenergan antihistamines for the allergic hives that line my inside pipes, DEX steroids for the same thing.... the oncology pharmacist and my GP agree these are good for management of the symptoms but it is a case of time to let the ulcers heal - goodness knows how long that will take! Only one more chemo this Friday (so hoping it doesnt get delayed) then four weeks of radiation.... Cant wait to see this year over. Sorry girls - just had to have a vent  ;-/  I'm sure I'll have a read of this later and say - lucky I'm not..... lucky I havent.......
