still waiting

Hi to all alot has happen to me in the past two weeks. One week ago I had a Bilateral Matectomy and reconstruction at the same time I am healing reall well from this and have coped quite well with the change I have to my body. I have also been back to the breast surgeon & have recieved the results from pathology so far I know that I am node negative, the tumour was 13mm, it is positive to hormone receptors and is HER2 negative and the surgical margins are clear. Although I know I couldnt have asked for better results I still feel petrified as I still dont know what treatment I may be recieving I find out tomorrow I have done my head in reading other peoples stories and reading about chemo Idont know how I will cope with being told I have to have Chemo?

  • Hi Nicole,

When I started 4 months of chemo last November I could not imagine that it would ever be over. But it has now been finished for 3 months & it seems like a long time ago.

    I was terrified before starting chemo but the? whole chemo experience was not as bad as I expected. ????T?h?e? ?a?n?t?i?-?n?a?u?s?e?a? ?d?r?u?g?s? ?a?r?e? ?m?u?c?h? ?b?e?t?t?e?r? ?t?h?a?n? ?t?h?e?y? ?u?s?e?d? ?t?o? ?b?e?.

If they tell you that you need chemo then you will be able to cope with that. Just take it one step at a time & after a while it will be in the past.

I'm sorry to hear that you are so anxious about starting chemo.  I finished chemo six months ago this week (4 x AC and 4 x Taxotere).  It had its unpleasant moments but it was manageable.  I hope that if you have to have chemo, your experience doesn't live up to your fears.  But please remember that we will be here for you if you need us.
