Steroid side effects.

First of all thank you to every one who commented on my first treatment post. I am awaiting a Telly health app from my Dr as we chat, so i can get to the bottom of all of this. I am afraid to report that I did have very bad side effects from the steroid medication that was given to me for my  energy levels . I Suffer from savior Anxiety Disorder and was not told that the steroids could have a panic attach effect on me. I was climbing the walls and would have done anything at that point to end the nasty symptoms even my life lucky i was not alone . thankfully i called the Mental health emergency line and they told me what to do. its day  3 since that happen and day 6 since first treatment and am only able to eat and walk around out of bed today. The worst thing about Breast Cancer so far. I think more needs to be said about the steroids used for energy i got a lot of info about the chemo treatment but nothing about the steroids.
  • I was not told the Steroids were given for energy. Rather that is a side effect. I understood it was to help with the Chemo side effects, including nausea. I'm sorry it has affected you this way. It sounds like you have been able to have alterations to your dosages. Hopefully this will suit you much better. All the best for all of your treatments.
  • Great - hopefully you'll be able to enjoy Xmas a tad more now. ;)

    take care xx
  • Thank you all for your response. So the Dr has decided  to cut my steroids by half the strength and give me stronger anti nausea medication to compensate. I have also had my Anxiety medication upped as well. So hopefully this will help.
  • @riss81 That is awful. I am so sorry that happened to you. I was fortunate in that the steroids only caused my cheeks to burn so I stopped them early on. Anything at all that is different to normal, hop onto the hotline and seek assistance. No one should have to go through that. Sending massive hugs.
  • xx. SO sorry the steroids was the cause of all of this .... I hope they'll be able to taylor your ongoing treatment with more specific meds xx.

All the best for your telehealth chat with the Dr ..... and wishing you all the best for Xmas too xx

    take care
