Hi Donna
I too was diagnosed at Christmas, and had to wait for pathology results. I realise now how many women they are dealing with on a weekly basis so dont think they can help it. I did jump up and down a bit because my tumour was very aggressive and had grown since I had seen the Surgeon from 3cm to 5.5 cm in less the 3 weeks since biopsy. She had said to me before the surgery that I may have to have a mastectomy because it had gotten so big, but they would go ahead with the planned lumpectomy that day. I said to the receptionist who was making my appointment for follow up and results that 2 1/2 weeks is too long to find out if I have more surgery ahead I said, I know they are very busy, but this is my life, so the Surgeon who was lovely came down in between operating on a non clinic day to see me. They got it all with clear margins, but I will start chemo on 3rd Feb. From what I have found out since being diagnosed, the follow up therapies are really to help prevent reoccurrence. If they check up with scans or mammograms they should be able to see anything when it is very small and able to be dealt with quickly. May the years ahead see a return to great health for you, and a time where you can plan your life without cancer being a part of it.
