Hi Ladies, I had never heard of this connection, till last week when I had a skin check. I have a goiter, (enlarged thyroid ). I have this checked every two years and my thyroid hormone levels have always been normal. The skin Dr noticed this goiter, and asked about it. She said, that the breast and thyroid gland are the 2 most commonly cancer effected organs if there is low iodine present. I never knew this, but have always eaten iodised salt, as a goiter can happen if you are low in iodine. She has suggested that I have an iodine urinary test. I have never had one of these when I have the thyroid checked. It makes you wonder, and I will ask my oncologist about this when I see him on Tuesday. I will let you know what he says.
