Starting letrozole tomorrow

Hello all...I’m starting letrozole tomorrow...does anyone have a view on whether Femara is better than the generic brands? Some drugs I think it makes a difference, like the pill or Prozac, but others I don’t , like antibiotics.
  • I've been on letrozole since mid 2017. I've had the Femara brand as well as generic brands, at the moment the pharmacor Letrozole, and have not noticed any difference between the different generics, or between the generics and the branded femara. I have other medical conditions which have resulted in fairly severe joint pain and stiffness as well as having osteoporosis before starting the letrozole. I have a Prolia injection six monthly for that, and my figures have improved slightly from what they were in 2017. It's hard to tell whether ongoing joint issues are caused or exacerbated by the letrozole, but my feeling is that the ongoing deterioration would have occurred regardless. Other than that, I too have some, shall we say.. changes in my lady garden. It is no longer lush, but is now semi desert, with nary even a cactus in sight.
  • The good news is that I have never had aches or joint pains. It’s knocked my bone density about a bit but mine was very good to begin with so I am still OK. Vaginal dryness is a pain in the whatever but may be exacerbated by my age. Oestrogen cream sounds completely counter intuitive, but age is on my side for that one and it helps a lot. I’ve stuck with it this long so may keep on it for ten years!!  We’ll see.
  • I’ve been on Femara for eight years - it’s been OK but different people react differently. If you have unpleasant side effects it may be worth trying another brand.,
