St Vincents Melbourne or Peter Mac Melbourne

I am currently a public patient receiving chemo at St Vincents in Melbourne. Just wondering if anyone out there has one through the public system and which hospital. I am considering Peter Mac if I can change but not sure if they would be better. Anyone experienced either St Vincents or Peter Mac in Melbourne? ManyThanks, Renae

  • Hi Renae,

I have been very happy with my treatment at Peter Mac; initially I thought of going private, but my surgeon told me it would be a waste of money. No costs and excellent care. My only complaints are about the waiting - have learned to always bring a book.

    Regards.... Pam

  • Hi Renae,

I am at the Austin and  Heidleberg Repat for surgeries, treatments and medical appointments.

Could not get better surgeons, specialists, oncologists, radiologists, nurses and general hospital staff for treatment and now with  the Olivia Newton John Wellness Centre opening next month I can't wait to utilise all it new facilities and  new treatments.

    Regards

  • Renae. I had all my treatment in the public hospital system (in the ACT) I had surgery with immediate implant recon,( within 3 weeks of being diagnosed) & chemo at the smaller hospital & rads at the larger one (smaller doesnt do radiation) & never had any problem with the treatment or time frames. But you do need to make sure your comfortable with wherever you go & whoever is treating you & don't be afraid to ask any questions you want.
