Hi Natalie and other members of this horrid club,
I guess Natalie you have picked from all the comments that we are all slightly different and scared in our own ways. I am glad your sinus surgery went well. On 2 April last year (clearly April fools was a day late) I was diagnosed with a secondary/localised cancer. Nodes were in my axilla and all around my carotid and chest. Luckily it was picked up due to a Horner's Syndrome (one pupil in my eyes larger than the other and some neurological symptoms) and after many scans and biopsies a diagnosis was made. 18weeks of chemo and 30 odd sessions of radiotherapy are behind me.
Messages from me now one year later
1. be kind to yourself...do what you need to do.
2. Gentle exercise....do what you can....
3. if you do need chemo...then ok....if you lose your hair...ok....winter and beannies go together.....you can rug up and be warm.
4. Check out a book by an Australian Oncologist called Dr Steven Boyages. Best thing I ever did. My oncologists (Radio and Chemo) were great but having that book to help me think things through and formulate questions was invaluable. Roughly $35 at Dymocks or online. Happy to help if you need it in finding or purchasing.
Take care.
xx Lucy
