Hi Natalie,
I initially had a lumpectomy and radiation in 2004 and the cancer returned in 2013 and I ended up with a mastectomy. I had 6 months of chemotherapy and now have started reconstruction surgery. I too had nerve pain from the drain which took months to go. There is a family history of breast cancer with 12 of us being diagnosed including my dad, his sisters and cousins. I don't have the BRCA gene but cousins do. I'm very optimistic and I'm told stoic - life dishes up unpleasant things and how you deal with it makes you stronger or a struggle. I always thought the cancer would come back and it did but I will never give up. My cup is always half full, never half empty and whatever happens I shall deal with it as I'm sure you will. Family and friends do help. My youngest child was 9 the first time and none of them really remember it now. Just believe in yourself and make each day a memory - time does make a difference. I hope your well and my ramble helps in a small way. Keep strong xxx Beppie
