Hi Natalie
My tumours were also grade 3 but fortunately hadn't spread outside of the breast. I had a lumpectomy followed by 5 months of chemo, 33 radiotherapy sessions and 12 months of herceptin. I was also told that without treatment, I had a 50% chance of reoccurrence. With treatment that has reduced to 10% but the meds I am on for AIP ups the risk to 85-95% chance of reoccurrence. You can't help but wonder about reoccurrence. I currently have a new pain in my back, different to the pain I normally have from arthritis. I was at the hospital for my herceptin on Thursday and the nurse spoke to the oncologist and if the pain hasn't gone with strong pain meds by next Thursday I have to see the oncologist for more scans. I think from now on, everything out of the ordinary, you and the doctors are going to have to think "well maybe". However, I just keep telling myself I have no control over tomorrow, next week or in a year. What I do have control over is now, today! And I choose not to ruin today with something that may or may not happen. Don't get me wrong, I still have my moments when it gets the better of me. I now only have 2 more treatments to go. I think that makes it easier because I know I can get through it all if it happens again. Sorry, I feel as though I'm babbling, so I hope I'm making sense. Try to make the most of every minute with your family as none of us knows what tomorrow will bring. Hang in there and take one day at a time. Karen xox
