The tears don't stop until you feel you're on solid ground - at least that was my experience. I was very fearful and didn't know about this website before my bc diagnosis and subsequent double mastectomies. I was 46 and felt i was too young to be facing such a major health scare. I had to face my fears alone - and woke up every night as if from a dream only to realise that it was real and going to happen to me. My husband was amazing. I cried every night and woke him up and he just held me and tried to calm my fears. Once my first surgery was over I felt like I was a bit more in control which helped.
However, I think tears are necessary - they are healing and they help you admit how you're feeling. As I write this, tears come again - it's been a bit more than a year and I think I will always cry when I go back to that time in my life when everything got turned upside down and I realised how vulnerable I am.
You are not alone xxx
