so lucky l went to the doctors

was not sure of a mark i found on my rib cage going to my breast checked with gp, sent for mammagram and ultra sound but told all clear , next thing we konw phone call found a lump in breast, biopsy, don he even said not cancer, results back its cancer,  so 2 weeks later  to surgery removal of that and 16 nodes, results back found in 1 node , and breast and milk duct

treatment chemo every3weeks for 4.5 months

radation  and tamoxifin tabs for 5 years.

all because l found this mark (like a shoe lace feeling) so lucky

have had chemo and now waiting for radation  and have started tamoxifin .

 l just dont understand why i had to get it , it opened a big can of worms for me and hubby and kids, as l nursed my mum with cancer not breast in 2003  this was all with in 15 weeks of being told of cancer to her passing , then dad took sick this happened 2006 on passed away in 2007.  so l was guttered to know that l  have had breast cancer  but l will bet it

    You're just so lucky that you noticed it & went to get it checked out straight away. I too, found my lump & went off to the doctor to have it checked out. My Dad first had cancer in 2004 & passed away last year with secondary cancer. Because of this & other family members with cancer, I have always had my checks when they were due. Just in March last year, I had my mammogram & it was clear. I found the lump in October of the same year & since have had a lumpectomy & 2 rounds of chemo. The radiotherapy will be after the chemo. It's very scary having cancer after seeing someone you love go through it, but just keep up that positive attitude & you'll be OK. Take all the help & support offered to you. You'll beat it, I know I will.

    Well done for having it seen to, and now you are able to start getting rid of it, i found my lump myself as well, and wasnt too worried when i went to the doc, but soon i was sitting blubbering, and the first question i asked was .. Am i going to die? but here i am lumpectomy, chemo, radio and arimidex that was in 2008 and i'm still here to tell the story, so like you i feel we found it so it could be fixed. My surgeon said this is a life threatning disease, but its not a life sentence, and i clung to that,  we are lucky to have this site, where we have lots of women through all stages of the journey, and there is always someone to give us support or information when we need it. i live in a rural area and have no support groups near, so this is great, so please feel free to laugh, cry vent and shout on here, there are no stupid questions,

    Good luck with your treatment, and whenever you feel up to let us know how you are doing. by helping yourself you can help others.  (pity they never done something with my fingers.. they keep hitting the wrong keys, so ignore the typos lol) Take Care Moira

    You will find you are stronger than you think and attack this BC head one, coz I can see your a strong person.  Make sure you are confident in your cancer team (surgeon, oncologist, breast care nurse, chemo/radiation nurses, pathology) If you dont feel confident then change or ask for another. Keep  you family and friends (support team) close and take little steps.

    yes u will beat it!!..there is a reason why u found it when u did-so that u could do something about it and become a survivor!!..in my case my BC began to spread to lungs, liver & neck nodes within 6 weeks of original diagnosis and we were lucky to have discovered that immediately..if we had continued without knowing our life would be very different to what it is now...so i am grateful everyday to my 'superhero surgeon' who was so thorough in requesting the req'd scans etc..once again..everything happens for a reason and altho the road is tough, finding out what we are dealing with gives us the power to do something about it...

    Good luck with ur treatment plan and come here as often as u need for advice, tips, support-whatever..
