So far so good
Went to see the oncologist last Friday. I got some good news ( I think ). He said that because they did a full mastectomy I didn't need radiation because the tumor was grade 1. Also the sentinel node biopsy was negative so he is of the view that I am 97% cured. Good!! But I thought the sentinal biopsy wasn't 100%!? He says It is 97% and he would have to be convinced I needed chemo.Phew ( I think ) ok, next step then? He said that he would not recomend chemo either because I would only have a 1.8% chance that it would do any good and an equal chance it would give me life threatening side effects. OK I wasnt aware the side effects were that bad!! I have two weeks to think about it but the choice I have seems to be just hormone therapy which will leave me 97% ok or hormone therapy and chemo which will leave me possibly 98.8% ok. His opinion is that the small chance it will do me good is not worth the journey it will take me on. I tend to agree with him but I am interested to hear from anyone about this. Ladies who have had a similar experience and ladies who chose the chemo. I am fighting for my life here and I don't want to make a choice simply because I don't want the chemo or because its what the oncologist wants. But I don't want to drain hospital recources and put myself through something that is unnecesary either. I am Interested in other ladies opinions about this before I make the final choice. The last word from the oncologist was that chemo wasn't worth it just to give me peace of mind which is all it would do. What r your thoughts ladies?
