Sleeping in Hospital

Thanks for the advice; I'm not looking forward to the pain and discomfort, but I can't wait to have boobs!

Im having my tissue expanders exchanged on the 30th May and Im so excited. Cant wait.

 I will try sleeping with pillows on both sides under my shoulders like I did last time.( I slept in the recliner a few times.) I also took temazapan on a few nights and had a good 6 hour sleep.

This is going to be my new normal.

Thanks Chris! I thought it would be hideous; it took ages to sleep comfortably after my mastectomy so this would have to be worse! I'll be having air expanders instead of saline ones, which apparently halves the time it takes to get to the size you want. Not looking forward to it, but I am looking forward to the end result! x Jane

Hi, sleeping might be hard. When I had my second mastectomy last year with bilateral insertion of tissue expanders, I also wondered the same thing. I asked my GP for a script for Tamaze sleeping pills, and I purchased one of those boomerang pillows. The first few weeks, with the help of these props, and extra pillows I did manage to sleep in a sitting up position, something I thought I would never be able to do. Gradually I was able to reduce the height of these pillows, but it wan't until about 3 months that I could actually sleep comfortably and flat on my back or side. No sooner was I doing this, than it was time for hospital again to remove these and replace with implants. This time it didn't require as long to get back to lying down. Even now, some 9 months later, I find I am still sometimes aware of my boobs when rolling over. This may well be due to the implants and not the surgery. I have absolutely no pain from these surgeries, but I think it is the numbness and the rigid feeling that I am most aware of. Having said all of that, I am extremely happy with my reconstruction, and have no regrets at all. Good luck with your surgeries. Love Chris xx
