What an ordeal. The sheer guts and grit of the people like you on this forum awes me.
I started the following discussion which includes a video explaining
Deep Inspiration Breath Hold (DIBH) - Radiotherapy for left sided breast cancer
I hope it will put your mind at ease. I used my asthma inhalers (preventer and ventolin) regularly throughout my 16 rad sessions. I had no problems whatsoever holding my breath. I did practice and I do yoga occasionally so I was used to controlling my breath. The technicians, nurses and doctor were so kind and considerate. Finished in Feb. The skin issues were manageable (other threads on this forum cover that topic) and have almost completely resolved.
