I had TC. By the end of it my hands and fingers were incredibly sore. Most of my fingernails had brown markings and they all lifted. None came off. Each chemo dose created a ridge that slowly emerged long after my last infusion (mid-March). They're halfway up my fingers now and I'm happy to say the nail coming behind is normal and healthy looking. The damage from the brown markings and nail lifting is now the top edge of my nails and they're weak so have just started to break now.
Several toenails got dark brown at the base of the nail. The nails which were the darkest have just in the last two weeks, come off completely. That includes both my big toe nails. It didn't hurt but the skin underneath is very tender so for the first few days I put bandaids on them. They'll be slightly odd for sandals but I've got a few months to go yet!
Other TC chicks have not had their nails as badly affected as mine, so you're absolutely correct Fletch, we all react differently. Best of luck. When do you start? K xox
