Thanxu for your info for Tamoxifen. I start taking tamoxifen 2 weeks now, so far so good just a bit of hot flushes every now and then but otherwise i am ok ;-) I hope all is good with you and enjoy the weekend xx

I didn't need any special preparation before starting on tamoxifen, although the doctors did tell me to wait for a couple of weeks after finishing radiation. I'm not sure why, but I think the doctors thought one thing at a time is enough to deal with. I finished radiation on the 14th March '12 and started the tamoxifen on the 1st April, I thought April fools day was a good day to start !!! I have so far been lucky that I didn't have any bad side effects with the tamoxifen although I did have to stop it for a month around the time I had the breast reconstruction surgery (I think it might have a blood clotting risk). Hi Tina,

That would be great if you could stop chemo and go back to normal, but i think it is going to take a while, my fingernails are now breaking and peeling where as when i was having chemo they were fine.  My doctors says to expect fatigue for 12 months after.  So at the Oliver Newton John Wellness Centre they are running Transition Programs to help you understand what you will be feeling mentally and physically now that you have stopped treatment.

Thanxu for your replay, yes i just not sure about this stomach ache still but hopefully it will go away soon, mybe i just need to give sometime for my last chemo stuff as i only had it 10 days ago, i think because its my last chemo so i expected to feel better faster ahahaha wishfull thinking. I personally didn't have any stomach aches, i have had joint aches and still have pins and needles in my feet and it has been 5 weeks since my last chemo.

They will come back - I finished chemo 3 weeks ago and they are better, not 100% but better, my biggest things Is I had no appetite and still have little appetite, so was not that interested in food, I ate becasue I was told I had to but would have been happy most of the time to not eat at all.

Try working on different tastes, sweet, salty, spicy, bitter etc to see what flavours you enjoy during this time and try to stick to that durignthis time until your tastebuds return.

As everyone else said your taste buds come back it helps to rinse your mouth out with hot water and salt.  Or you can buy drops and they seem to rinse your mouth or you can try cleaning your tongue with your tooth brush.
