Show us your nuts! (Nude nuts that is...)
One of the hurdles I've had throughout this journey has been to show my nude head in public. But with these hot flushes, it can be so unbearable to have anything on my head, there have been a couple of times (including one today) when I have had to just take the hat off and deploy the hand fan!
I have found it sickening to go nude in public, and yet a little bit empowering. So I'm doing it here, before you all. Here it is!

I've shown you mine. Wanna show me yours?

Mine started to fall out on Sunday and today (Tuesday) it is driving me INSANE. My hair is down to just below shoulder level and it is everywhere, I am choking on it, eating it etc. Tomorrow my hubby is giving me a crew cut (probably number 2) becasue I just can't cope with it like this, I leave trails of hair everywhere I go (I could not get lost, i just have to follow the trails of hair home), I even woke up choking in the early hours of this morning. At the rate it is falling out (handfuls a day) I am sure it will not be many more days until I am totally bald and then I will post a photos of myself (I have to take some to email to show my neices who are coming to visit so that they don't get scared or upset when they see me bald - they are 4 and 6 and only know that their aunty has some germs that the doctor is giving me medicine to help with). I am shedding more than my dog (and she sheds badly).
I am SO looking forward to the crew cut tomorrow, not something you think you would be wishing and HAPPILY counting down too, but truly this is driving me insane, shorter has to be better just becasue the sheer amount is less (20cm long to 1 cm long (or what every) BIG difference).
Joey - you look amazing bald, very pretty indeed. I hope I look as good onceI finish shedding.

LOL please post a pic of the mohawk! And don't bother assuming what you're going to look like bald because the proof is in the pudding :)
Hi all
Since I start my chemo soon I thought I'd dye my hair purple since Ive always wanted to. Might even try a mohawk as well as a crew cut. May as well have a little fun with it before it goes, ha !! You look nice Joey, I have a feeling I'm gonna look a lot like Uncle Fester!

I have an awsome hat my husbandds friends mum made for me, its a pink raspberry ripple velvet 'fezz', i can shape it and have the tassle hanging, i can pull it over my eyes as well. And i have an awsome sheer scarf with dimontes on it that i twist up into a turban thing, its red, fades to pink, i get alot of comments, I bought a red and a black and cream wool beanies for winter as well. They'll match my clothes. i tend to dress very shabby shiek, hippy, middle eastern style, lol im comfy. Ants, it looks like ants on my head!! hahahaha

Hi Gayle, I usually keep a sleep hat in my hand bag in case I'm caught out. I bought one and then my mum made me a couple of different versions of it. What I really like about sleep hats is that when you're having a snooze during the day you can pull it down over your eyes!

My hair has started to shed, i had it cut from down my back to a number one, now with it shedding it looks like i have patches of ants! I forgot a hat yesterday and went to the local woolies, and yes, i got looks. One woman had her head shaved to a number 2, i think she was supporting Breast Cancer, because the look i got from her and her guy was more like one of embarrassment and pity. My head either feels sweaty, or cold, i cant really tell! lol. You look good tho, my friend said it suits me, i dont think so!!
- MelgMemberHi Joey You look fantastic bald. Be proud to be a baldy. I am quite comfortable being a baldy in public... I only wear a scarf on the days I'm feeling a bit down... I have had a few kids say to their mums look that lady has no hair. I've just replied quickly that I'm a bit sick and the silly medicine the doctor gives me makes my hair fall out. It saves the mum being put in an uncomfortable position too. I do get annoyed when adults stare with a pathetic look on their face... We don't want or need their sympathy... Just their understanding. Scarf or bald it's obvious we have cancer... I like it when people just come out and say how's your treatment going. My daughter likes me to go out bald and tells me not to wear a scarf... My 16 year old son asks me to wear a scarf at the shops but since he shaved his head for shave for a cure he likes me to go bald too. Take care and have a great Easter Mel xxx

Thanks everyone. I had a weird moment today - it was quite hot so I didn't even bother with any head cover. I was standing at the cheese and dip bit of a local supermarket, a man walked in with 2 little girls and they stood next to me looking at cheese. 1 of the girls saw me and did (I kid you not) like a quadruple take at my nude nut. Not a double take, no! Looked about 4-5 times. It felt so weird to be looked at like that. Maybe she was trying not to stare.
I'm going to have to work on my wink if kids are going to react like that!

There are some benefits to being bald!
When I get hot flushes now I sometimes reminisce about when I used to just be able to take off my wig or hat. Although I was never brave enough to do it in public - I would go the toilet at work.
