Wow, shell shocked doesn't seem to describe how im feeling. Just had the diagnosis of Invasive Ductal Carcinoma (DCIS) grade 3, and positive in a lymph node. Now waiting to see the surgeon. Can't seem to find a way to post on the online forum though.

Hi Doona, so sorry about your diagnosis. One thing I found about this site is we have all been there and know exactly how you are feeling and you can say whatever is on your mind and be supported. The next week is going to be a busy one. I am only 12 days post left breast mastectomy surgery and still breathing through it. The best piece of advice and the most common you are going to see on this site is to concentrate on one area at a time. I found the more I read, the more I couldn't concentrate...so I just read and talked about the next step. Please let me know how you are going and what you have decided to do, we are close together in this journey. Xx

You HAVE posted on the online forum! One day at a time is definitely the best way to go.If you try to look ahead,chances are that things will change anyway.I had the same diagnosis as you,last year on sep 2 nd.I have had my mastectomy,my chemo,and I am on tamoxifen now.I feel great,and what you have to remember,that for the most part,breast cancer these days is very treatable,and most ladies,go on to live long healthy lives.This forum is the most amazing place to get advice or just support in general.Stay in touch,and before you know it,you will be on here giving advice to newly diagnosed ladies:) Cheers xoxRobyn

You have found the right forum for support and advice. My journey started 12th June, and I can't tell you how many times I have turned to this forum for guidance. With the help of these beautiful ladies my questions have been answered and my anxiety has been given rational. My journey is now very manageable. I have been taught to only deal with the few steps immediately ahead of me instead of researching (I exhausted Mr Google) and trying to understand everything about BC to the point of utter confusion and exhaustion. It takes a while not to focus on fear but instead to embrace the fact that this disease IS TREATABLE. swelling on collar bone ,was old sun damage repairing itself .However i have now developed a painful blood clot in the arm following my second chemo .

I'm sorry I won't be able to help you on this one. I am on a different regime to you, however I'm sure it won't be long before you hear from one of the ladies. One thing I do know is that sometimes some of the side effects can be quite bizarre and don't always appear across the board. You're doing well :) xx Silke

This is my understanding of your result.Triple negative cancer means that the cells lack oestrogen and progesterone receptors.This means that you can have chemo,but treatments such as Tamoxifen etc. will not be used as they won't have any effect.There are so many different types of breast cancer.Mine was invasive ductal carcinoma but not triple negative.I hope this helps a little.Cheers xoxRobyn

It's all good, it's been found and clear margins...I cannot tell you about chemo, I never had it but one of the others will be along soon. Stay well xx

well ,I've had surgery ,margins were all clear ,results are ,

invasive ductal carcinoma 20mm,basoloid features

histology grade3/3

focal adjacent high grade DCIS 1mm

triple negative .Cant work out if its good or bad .

start chemo in a week

Too funny, my name is Donna and my nickname is Doona too.

Anyway welcome to the site, you will find loads of support on here and as much assistance as you may require.

I had breast conserving surgery, so no mastectomy but from all I have heard from the ladies it seems they prefer double rather than single, but honestly its a personal choice. Sometimes though it seems like there is too many decisions to be made I know.

Just baby steps and you will get through it all.
