Seroma

Hi. Early days are stressful. I'm so over bras too at the moment. Hated wearing to bed but knew it was for support. Now after mastectomy I'm still over bras but yesterday went to see breast nurse. No drainage needed. I felt relieved because Everytime I had drainage it took a few days to get over. Wasn't so much soreness but irritating skin feel. Using soft gauze under sore spots at the moment which has made a big difference. hope you are feeling better soon. All the Best.  Maz. Xx

Thanks for this info , I'll check it out. The bra I received to use for post op was too big , so I've been using a soft cup bra of my own . So over wearing a bra 24/7. I stopped for a while but am going to keep wearing it till the Seroma is gone .
iwasnt told how long to keep sleeping in a bra.
anyway I'm healing well and the nerve pain was probably bought on by not sleeping in the bra too soon. It's all very new ,this journey. I'm seeing the radiotherapist at Peter Mac on Monday . 
I feel that all this has happened so fast I still can't believe it has happened to me. 

Chanel you could always use an aah bra or there is a company that makes sleep bras with varying degrees of support. Website is www.bfreeaustralia.com.au - don't have any actual experience with the sleep bras because I only found out about them myself on the weekend but have one month left of the post surgery bra and then I'm definitely going to buy a sleep bra. Please don't worry about typos - I blame everything on predictive texting :D xx

Hello Cath , a sleep bra sounds good , didn't know there was a sleep bra. 
I saw my surgeon tonite and she checked me and all k looks fine . She said it sounded like a fluid build up and pressing on a nerve. So I'm going to monitor and if it keeps happening will have an ultrasound . Today I've been fine and no pain do fi gets crossed it'll all stay fine. Lol @ Seroma free future x

Hi Chanel, just re the bra - my surgeon told me I had to wear mine for four months (did have an implant put in immediately after mastectomy so I'm sure part of it was to support the implant) but I have decided I'm going to try wearing a sleep bra even after this as it does seem to give some good support and is now pretty comfy. I'm sure I am also having some small fluid fluctuations as my breast has days where it feels heavy and other days where it doesn't - almost tidal :). Wishing you a seroma free future Xx Cath

I've spoken to the Breast care nurse and she said it was more than likely Seroma and today it has settled. She also said to keep wearing a bra at night, which I stopped about a week or so ago. 
My surgeon has called me and I'm seeing her tonite , I'm sure it'll be ok . Thanks for your reply. These early days are somewhat stressful aren't they . 

I had a post operative seroma after lumpectomy, I had it drained by the breast care nurse, it refilled to a very very small degree &  I had no problem or infection after.

Thankyou for all for your replies. I'm calling the surgeon today to discuss this. The pain feels like nerve pain. It's not so bad this morning. I don't have a temp or feel unwell. Will post an update when I know what this is. Have a happy day
