Hello, I was wondering if anyone is going through Breast Cancer that has gone to the liver? I have had an MRI and have found I have 12 lesions on my liver and although inconclusive without a biopsy, the Oncologist is treating it as secondary. Due for my 2nd chemo today but would like to hear a bit more about what to expect from anyone going through the same thing??? A bit scary.
Don't scare yourself by doing research! As Tracey says there are many different drugs that we can add into our treatment schedule to deal with liver mets. There are many women posting on the American boards who have had their liver mets disappear with new treatments and they are currently No Evidence of Disease (NED).
I don't use the term secondary cancer, I tell everyone that I am living with cancer that can't be cured and the operative word is LIVING! Cancer that has spread can be managed and controlled for many years/decades so forget about reading statistics and possibilities. All stats are based on outdated data and include all women regardless of their general overall health. You say you are healthy (apart from the chemo) so that is an excellent place to start this journey.

Thanks for your reply Tracey. It just sucks having to wait doesn't it? Especially when I read that liver metastasis doesn't have a long life expectancy. I guess there's always that small chance that the lesions are benign..... fingers crossed as I am healthy except for the chemo...lol. Just need to find a bit of strength like you have and keep crossing the bridges as they come... Take care to you too.

Hi Bombie, it will all be a bit scary for you at the moment. At least they know they are there and they will adjust your chemo accordingly. Unfortunately it is a case of wait and see. I don't have any in my liver but just before Christmas 2010 they found nodes in my chest area were up. Don't be afraid to ask your onc questions. Write a list of what you want to know and ask on your next visit. The oncology nurses are also a good source of info and can explain most things to you.
