Second chemo, what a blast - NOT!! Felt quite sick and sorry for myself this time. Was in bed from Saturday nite to Monday morning. But I knew this was going to the "norm". Just have to - as they say- '"toughen up princess". My head is really sore from the small amount of hair I have left. Anyone on ideas of whether it should be shaved totally off?? So looking forward to this one! My friend who had breast cancer 10 years ago said her friend came round with her emjoi gently and emjoi'd her head when the hair started falling out!

Thanks girls for the suggestions. I will definately try the moisturiser, haven't thought of that..... I don't have an emjoi, so I think that it a no for me at the moment. Hi Michelle Its both, so I will try the arrowroot biscuits though. Not sure about ginger as when I was a child a neighbour had ginger chocolates. And we thought - as kids do - chocolate.... no thought of the ginger.:) So I ate a heap of it and felt real sick, so since then ginger and my head dont mix. So any thought of giner is a turn off for me. Silly I suppose..... Anyway hope you are fine and have also been thinking of you also. Love as always Julie XX

Hi DansBoobs Yes, I think we have all said what you wrote, plenty of times. WELCOME to this absolute wonderful site. The beautiful ladies here are both fantastic and encouraging. I must admit I am more on this site than on facebook. Here you can talk to all of us and know we all have been/ or going thru the same. I shaved the last of mine off. It was driving me NUTS, and was VERY nearly all gone (thin and wispy - like a VERY old persons) and making me itchy (all the tiny little hairs falling down my clothes etc (Like after a haircut) and the rubbing the wrong way bit (like leg hair rubbing backwards etc) OUCH, so I shaved it off (I used an electric razor (to prevent nicks) and just went for it) and HAVEN'T looked back, it was the 2nd best thing I did after doing the crew cut when it first started to fall out. You can get it done by a hairdresser if you don't have the ability to do it at home (I cut mine short first using clippers to about 3mm - the shortest our clippers would go, then went over my entire head with electric razor, then rubbed my head gently in the shower (I had a shower afterwards to get rid of the hair scraps that fell into my clothes etc) with exfoliating gloves to prevent ingrown hairs (if my hair happened to grow). Good Luck. I moisturise my head too (using moisturiser like sorbolonene, or believe it or not, olive oil (just a tiny bit), I also wash my scalp with face wash, gnetle soap substitute (I am allergic to soap and use a sorbolene and glycerine bar) or a very a tiny bit of shampoo (I reckon it is made for hair and therefore scalps). You can get ginger capsules for nausea. I have found the best thing my oncologist did for me was to write me up for the drug Aloxi, it is given through the IV before my chemo and it prevents nausea for 4-7 days, it is amazing. Also be careful becasue I was feeling nauseous (or what I thought was nausea) a few times and reliased it wasn't nausea but reflux, and I take Zantac and mylanta roll tabs and this REALLY helps.

Hi My scalp was super sore so I clipped off what hair was left and used small sections of leg wax strips to remove the remaining patches of painful stubble. That did the trick, no more inflammation and massive relief. I was not worried about infection as I felt I was more likely to get an infection from my dead hair and inflamed roots. This worked well for me but it's up to the individual how they deal with it. Keep smiling.

An electric razor is safer, as there is a LOT less of a risk of infection.

YES yes yes cactus spikes, those fine ones that really hurt when tehy stick you ones, that is exactly what is felt like.

Shave it now and with a razor, if you can't trust yourself go to the local barber and get him to give you a shave with a cutthroat blade, there is nothing worse than that sore feeling of hair still stuck in your head, so go for it ladies, be bald and be free!

thanks TonyaM , yes like I described it before - it feels like cactus spikes in my head....

I have just started to put cream on my head, and it did relieve it. Wearing the cotton caps all day and night...

Many speed bumps and more to go ..... but as always still smiling :)
