Screening mammograms are important

You may have seen or heard reports about new Canadian research that found that  screening mammograms do not reduce the rate of death from breast cancer.

BCNA is concerned that this may lead some women to decide not to have their regular screening mammograms.

Other research, including an evaluation of the Australian BreastScreen program, has found that  screening mammograms do save lives.

You can read BCNA's response to the Canadian research  on our website.

We believe women should continue to have screening mammograms as recommended by their doctor or the BreastScreen program.
