Scattered Microcalcifications

Hi Michelle, I too have not heard about this type of cancer, but if it is aggressive and rare, I can understand your fear about waiting 6 months for another mammogram. I was diagnosed with a very common breast cancer 15 months ago, and though I started with a lumpectomy, I elected to have a mastectomy instead of another lumpectomy when the surgeon wanted to do more.( I am only small busted). 9 months later I decided to have a second precautionary mastectomy. I have come across so many ladies that ended up with a second breast cancer down the track, and I decided that I didn't want to go there again. For me it was the right thing to do, and my surgeon was happy to oblige. I have done the chemo, but didn't require radiotherapy. I am on anti oestrogen tabs for 5 to 7 years. I have had no regrets about my decision, and have now completed reconstruction with implants that I am delighted with. I am quite a bit older than you, (53), so maybe the decision was easier for me. To me it was just one thing that I felt I could control, and my husband and 4 adult kids were very happy with my decision. My husband is very impressed with the new boobs as well.
