I use a vitamin E cream on all my skin but use a silicone based gel called 'Dermatix' on my scars. It is a little pricey, but so far I have found it fabulous. I am 5 weeks post mastectomy and it is already fading and softening the scars! I have heard good things about Bio-oil as well.
I recently attended a Lymphoedema Clinic where they emphasised the importance of good skin care, not only for if you have radiotherapy, but the importance of keeping things like your heels in good condition to prevent cracking. Apparently any break-down in the skin, cuts, grazes etc can allow infection in, particularly when your immune system is compromised.
