Scanxiety

Completely agree -  the waiting needs to be reduced. I used to get really anxious about my yearly tests but  at least I got the results before I left my surgeon! 

I had my surgery in Sydney, live in Canberra. Whan I have my annual check up with my surgeon, I go up tne day before for my mammogram & ultrasound.  Both years so far they gave come back and taken extra mammogram pictures. I've nearly had heart failure. The first year the radiologist came in at the end of the ultrasound and explained why, and reassured me. Last she she was caught up doing a procedure, but the sonographer was able to come back and tell me she thought it was all ok. I have a feeling that if I needed a biopsy,it would be done tgere and then. And best of all, I only have to wait for the results until the next morning. Of course,both appointments are made 1w months ahead, to be able to get the appointments that suit me.

I feel for you @Hendrix - I was a mess at my first year scan.  I had a mammogram on one side and an ultrasound on both and was so grateful when the radiologist came in after reviewing both to let me know everything was clear.  I don’t think scanxiety ever goes away and having to wait for the results is horrible.  Sending you best wishes for good (and speedy) results. Hi there @Hendrix it’s a shitty feeling. I still get anxious seeing my oncol every 3 months and he says I dont need to have 3 monthly blood tests anymore either then I worry if I don’t will they miss something and remember I’ve had both boobs off! Or when I see the surgeon and he starts pokjng around I look at his face and think did you just feel something? But in between visits I don’t really think about it now. So you’re not alone love. We all feel that way sometimes. 

Just when I think I feel the best I ever have the next week I feel even better physically and I thought the fatigue and just feeling blah before I was diagnosed for so long was just an age or stress thing. When my osteo plays up I think shit is that something ?? Then it settles down and the discomfort goes away so I’m reassured again.  Biggest hug. Margie. X

Oh goodness yes!  My 12 month ultrasound they took an incredible amount of time, I started to have a scanxiety attack. I had to ask for the radiologist to come in and talk to me so I didn't feel so sick!  Horrible nasty feeling.

You may or may not have seen this saying before but I hope it gives you a better understanding of it all

I called BC nurse and they had mammogram results back...all clear!! One to go...I don’t think I felt this emotional at diagnosis...numb yes!! I just past an exam I had for work and when I got results and they congratulated me I burst into tears...I feel like I’ve held my breath for 12 months and I can now breath...feeling very emotional today xx

Great news @Hendrix! I can only imagine your relief. My first mammo/us appt is coming up on 29th March and it creeps into my thoughts more and more as the date approaches. I went for a simple bone density scan on Tuesday and had convinced myself by the end of it that the radiologist had seen something. I've had lower back/hip pain with sciatica, so that's all I could think about! I'll probably be an anxious mess on scan day.
