Save money - Public vs Private for Radiation

Hi, Back in 2006 at my first diagnosis, I was warned not to go private.  I was a private patient and thought that I would have to go private for radiation.  Luckily I had a friend who has "done the same road" 3 years earlier.  She put me straight.  I am in Queensland.  I had no out of pocket expenses for the service - just transport and accommodation as I had to be away from home for 7 weeks as I live in rural Central Queensland. At my second diagnosis in Dec 2010 and subsequent radiation in Feb/March 2011 I again went to the same public radiation clinic.  Same wonderful service at no cost.  I was given names of the two practising surgeons at the time by my GP and it was my choice so can't comment to your query.  It sure is a costly business without adding on unnecessary costs.
