Good luck with everything. Hope it all works out the way you want it to. Be prepared for your arm to be slow in working, though you'll have some exercising to be doing to get it right again. Try wearing button up front clothes after wards if you are getting all the lymph nodes out which is what happened to me.

True, you have enough on your plate at the moment, to be thinking that far ahead, sorry!  

 I have 2nd surgery on 25th Aug, to take more surgical margin, and all nodes out under arm, right side.  Which side is your bc?  Then hopefully the Docs will give me my treatment plan and no more surgery.  So, Chemo in Sept/Oct, I suppose, then radiation then hormone therapy.  Before this surgery, Hubby and I are going in for egg collection and embryo freezing.  That is if my period shows up by Monday.  We are cutting it fine, as it is I will probably go for day surgery on 24th and then ship off to hospital the following day.  Nothing like having anethesia 2 days in a row. hahahahaaa

You only live once Rachey, why not give it a whirl. I changed my hair style from long to short and then added a lot of foils in - in readiness for the chemo. Then I was told I wouldn't need chemo so I was happy.

Now I need the chemo -I don't have the confidence to go balding, though want to wear the brightest scarves I have and can find as turbens and so on just to let everyone know - I AM A BREAST CANCER SURVIVOR!

Good luck with the hats, wigs and everything else.

Go for the total change - you have nothing to lose but have a lot of fun trying it out! :)

you can always get a really out there wig then just wear it if the occassion or mood suits!

I dont know about the reconstruction bit yet, my brain and emotions only allow me to deal with whats directly in front of me and thats the chemo. I will have to investigate and think about it sooner or later though, hvae you started the chemo???

Hey Sandy - I just googled "how to tie a turbon with a scarf" and there are some u-tube videos on there.  The one with the girl with brown hair one looks easy enough to do, although I am all thumbs too.  :o)

Ok Sandy - picture this.  

1 - put small beanie on said noggin 2- place long scarf horizontally on top, tuck into forehead part of beanie and back of neck of beanie 3- lean forward and tie once in front, twist around the two long bits and tie in front again 4 - then tie once at back. I don't know if it is the correct method but works for me! Wish I could down load a diagram! x Josie

We do have similar stories....  Good luck with all that lies ahead.  Will you be having reconstruction surgery at the same time as your mastectomy? 

Have a wonderful time on holiday, Sandy.  It will be good to rest up before your chemo starts, you'll be nice and relaxed, as you can be I suppose.  I am a little scared about chemo, I am not feeling sick and don't want to get pumped full of poisons and feel aweful.

The breast cancer nurse suggested a place called celebrity wigs although I coulnt see much in the way of scarves there. I am hoping to just buy a few nice scarves and hats but just dont know where to start. I thought the wigs were more expensive so I will look into 'hiring them".

I love the idea of turbans, where can I learn how to make one up though? I have some lovely scarves I purchased years ago when on special - silk ones too!

So I am trying to tie them up on my head like a turban, though I just don't have the necessary fingers - I am all thumbs. Is there somewhere online that shows you how?
