round three of chemo

been few days since round 3 of chemo and its been the most horrible so far. I feel like I been hit by a truck, my mouth feels like road kill and to top it off I am begining to have hot flushes 24/7. It is terrible I am tired all the time from been awake during the night from hot flushes , covers on covers off I never planned to be menopausal at 38 .As someone said on this web before feels like I am having a trip to the tropics everytime I have one, I wish I was in the tropics some where like far North Queensland as I was last year. Lets hope it will improve and will get better ,one more cycle and then chemo is behind me and I can focus on the next stage . That's it from me I feel better for writing it down and I sure you lovely ladies on this web will understand me.Monica

  • Hi, Maria that's right I always feel beeter after I get on this page and vent a little or a loty depending on case. I finnally start to improve , about time, same taste buds comming back, I too use the biotene tooth paste and mouth wash and I find them very good usually but this time around did not help. Thanks god there only one more chemo for me and then on to radiotherapy, I find out more about that this week when I meet with the specialist. Can wardly wait to know the schedule for it cause I need a weekend away with my family , I am sick of been at home or around the home all the time. How are you going have you finished chemo , do you need radiotherapy as well or just chemo. Hope you feeling good , all the best from me, regards Monica

  • Hello Monica,

Felt like I was reading exactly what I had written a few months back, looks like the mac truck has made it to your place. No taste buds whatsoever. I just finished using the tube of biotene toothpaste so I felt good about that.

I am also chemically menopausal - with the hot sweats, am dreading the hot summer. Will be close to a swimming pool or air conditioning. I have started taking some tablets that are suppose to help with the hot flushes (once I finished chemo) ask your oncologist. We also have access to a very good accupunturist in the centre where I went for chemo. I havent tried this yet but have heard very good reports from others.

I feel you, have been there, just ride the wave and go with the flow, it does get better. All the very best.

P.S I too use to feel better after writing feelings down =)
