Round 3 tomorrow

I was really looking forward to my third week post 2nd round chemo.  I feel good physically and enjoying walking, swimming, photography and getting out of the house but I am struggling emotionally.  This happened to me leading up to chemo treatment last time too.  Does anyone else get like this before there next treatment.

On arrival at hospital last time I was so upset I couldn't even tell the receptionist who I was.  I was a complete blubbering mess.  The nurses were great and looked after me very well even organized for psychologist to come and talk to me.

I really want to pull myself together before tomorrow.  I think I just feel incredibly lonely at this point in the cycle.

  • Yes. I was given Ativan (lorezapam) just before my first chemo to help with the anxiety. Then was told to take it the morning before next session. I think this is the same medication they give to treat anxiety.  Try asking for it, it may help you.

    My thoughts are with you,

  • I was a bit of an emotional wreck sometimes when I did chemo with my first diagnosis. I was also suffering badly with nausea post chemo. My Dr prescribed me the most amazing little pill. I took one the night before chemo, and one the morning and night of chemo and one the following night. It so helped my nausea, but the big plus it really helped me mentally. It's called larazipan I think. Apparently the more relaxed you are the less you suffer side effects. Hang in there. Paula x
